Cambridge Audio unveils CXN100 Network Player

Cambridge Audio has launched its CXN100 Network Player, successor to the CXN V2 (HFC 437). Utilising an ESS ES9028Q2M SABRE32 Reference DAC, the CXN100 features the latest StreamMagic Gen4 module and MQA compatibility with Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, Qobuz and Deezer built in. It offers hi-res Internet Radio courtesy of MPEG-DASH support, while digital connectivity includes USB, coaxial, and optical inputs. For wireless connection there’s Chromecast, AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth. It’s compatible with Google Home, Apple and AirPlay multi-room systems as well as Roon. It additionally boasts a 4.76in hi-res screen for displaying album artwork. Designed, engineered and acoustically optimised at Cambridge Audio’s own London-based music venue and HQ, Melomania, the company says the result is: “a true generational step up in sound quality, functionality and value for money. CXN100 will instantly transform any hi-fi system into a futureproofed streaming system.”

The DAC at the heart of the CXN100 can handle PCM up to 32-bit/768kHz and up to DSD512. “The timing filter inside the ESS 9028Q2M is so good that no post-DAC filter is required, which further simplifies the signal path and ultimately results in precise, jitter-free, class-leading audio clarity,” the British company adds.

There have been significant changes made to the post-DAC analogue stage too, with new, more efficient capacitors and op-amps increasing the signal-to-noise ratio and reducing distortion.

Like all Cambridge network players, the CXN100 is controlled in full by the StreamMagic app and it can also be operated with the CX Series system remote, supplied with CX Series amplifiers and the CXC CD Transport. This remote can be purchased separately from cambridgeaudio.com for those who require one.

Available to buy now for £900, you can find out more about the Cambridge Audio CXN100 here.
