Focal unveils Theva speaker range
All the speaker drivers incorporate Slatefiber technology, an exclusive cone which the company says is: “known for reproducing a dynamic, rich and balanced sound; effectively used in numerous products for the home, recording studios and in-car audio systems. Also made by Focal, the TNF tweeter delivers a mellow, clear treble frequency.” The speaker cabinets feature tilted stands for optimum time alignment.
The range is available in Black, Dark Wood and Light Wood finishes and Focal says the enclosures have been revamped to be more compact, while the additional front panels provide: “an elegant finish and serve to make the products even more robust”. Metallic, screen-printed rings have been selected to frame the speaker drivers, the vent has been positioned to the rear so as to not interfere with the front panels, while the bases and grilles are claimed to work in harmony with each model.
The Theva N°1 standmount combines a 25mm aluminium/magnesium TNF tweeter with a 165mm Slatefiber cone mid/bass driver to offer claimed 89dB (8ohm) sensitivity. It measures 212 x 392 x 260mm (WxHxD), weighs 7kg and is priced at £660.
Theva N°2 is the slimmer of the floorstanders coming in at 191 x 931 x 352mm and weighing 17kg. It has the same tweeter combined with a 130mm Slatefiber cone midrange driver and two Slatefiber cone bass drivers. It claims 90dB (8ohm) sensitivity and costs £1,300.
Theva N°3 increases the cabinet dimensions to 212 x 989 x 388mm and the bass and midrange drivers to 165mm. It has 91dB (8ohm) sensitivity, weighs 20kg and costs £1,500.
